OELCHECK visits Gunvor refinery in Ingolstadt

In May 2023, some of the OELCHECK tribologists and employees of the Sales department visited the Gunvor refinery in Ingolstadt. As one of the most efficient refineries in Europe, it has been supplying the southern German region with products for mobility and heat for more than five decades. It also supplies feedstock for the chemical industry and district heating for the region.

During the detailed tour of the plant, the OELCHECK employees were able to learn about the production processes of a refinery in a practical way. The head of maintenance at the refinery was there in person and used the visit of the OELCHECK team for a detailed discussion about the monitoring of lubricants with OELCHECK all-inclusive analyses. Among other things, the focus was on turbine oils. These tend to form varnish, which in turn can lead to valve sticking and equipment malfunctions. Therefore, the preventive possibilities of oil analysis as well as the avoidance or removal of varnish were intensively discussed.
